Additional information

Analyze a difficult or ambiguous GPS coordinate

Advanced GPS coordinates is made for cleaning up an already found coordinate: decimal, DMS, DM, latitude/longitude or longitude/latitude order, various separators, map link or geo URI. Use it when a coordinate copied from a puzzle, notebook or app is not immediately usable.

Order control

The Lat, Lon or Lon, Lat setting lets you check a coordinate whose order is not obvious.

Rounding

The decimal setting adjusts output precision, useful when sharing a readable position without making it unnecessarily long.

Ready links

The tool creates Google Maps, OpenStreetMap and geo URI outputs so the position can be reused quickly.

Concrete example

A coordinate such as 2.2945, 48.8584 may be valid if it is written longitude first. The order setting lets you test that hypothesis without manually rewriting every output.

For background, see Wikipedia’s geographic coordinate system page. For conversion formulas, Geographic coordinate conversion is more technical.
