Privacy Policy

1. Purpose and scope

This Privacy Policy explains how personal data may be processed when using appergo.com and its different language versions. It applies to the public pages of the website, online tools, contact and bug-report forms, and technical processing required for operation, security and administration of the service.

AppErgo aims to limit data collection to what is necessary. A large part of the website, particularly its web tools, is designed to be used without an account and with processing carried out directly in the browser whenever possible.

2. Data controller

AppErgo is a personal and independent project published in France. For questions about personal-data protection, you may write to [email protected] or use the contact form.

Where personal data is processed directly as part of AppErgo’s operation, the website publisher determines the purposes and means of that processing, without prejudice to processing carried out by technical providers for their own obligations or services.

3. Language versions

AppErgo is available in ten languages: French, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Chinese and Korean. This policy is intended to cover all of those language versions.

Translations may be produced with the assistance of translation and artificial-intelligence tools and then reviewed and adjusted as far as possible. Their purpose is to make the same information accessible in every language. If wording differs, the actual processing principles implemented on the website remain the same regardless of the language used.

4. Data that may be processed

Depending on how you use the website, AppErgo or its technical providers may process categories of data including:

  • information you voluntarily submit in a form, such as a name, email address and message content;
  • information supplied in a bug report, such as a description of the issue, the page concerned or technical details you choose to provide;
  • technical connection and browsing data, such as an IP address, request date and time, requested URL, HTTP response code, user-agent or information required for operation and security;
  • information stored locally in your browser when you use certain preferences or tool features.

AppErgo does not require an account to use its web tools and does not aim to build personal profiles of visitors.

5. Online tools and local processing

For their normal operation, AppErgo web tools are designed to perform calculations, conversions, generations or transformations directly in the browser. When processing is local, the content entered into the tool and the result produced do not need to be transmitted to the AppErgo server.

This may include text pasted into a tool, values used for a calculation, files processed locally when a tool supports them, generator data or information analysed by a utility that runs entirely in the browser.

The online tools do not need to call an external API for their normal operation. A particular feature that uses an external service should be identified as such and may be subject to that service’s privacy rules.

6. Local browser storage

Some features use browser local storage, for example to retain favourites, a display mode, a game high score or preferences specific to a tool. This information remains on the device and in the browser profile for as long as the browser keeps it.

Local storage does not itself transmit that information to AppErgo. You can remove it using website controls where available or by clearing site data in your browser settings.

7. Contact and bug-report forms

Contact and bug-report forms differ from tools that process data locally: for a message to be received and handled, the information you choose to send has to be transmitted to the server and, depending on how the service operates, to the mail system used to receive it.

Submitted information is used to answer a request, understand a problem, correct a tool, follow up a report, process a suggestion or carry out necessary correspondence. You should avoid sending sensitive data or personal information that is not useful for the request.

8. Technical logs, hosting and website protection

Like most websites, AppErgo may generate or cause technical logs to be generated when connections are made to the server. These logs may contain an IP address, date and time, requested resource, HTTP status code, referrer or user-agent. They are used for technical operation, diagnostics, security, abuse detection and incident analysis.

The website is hosted by OVH SAS and uses Cloudflare for traffic delivery, caching, performance and protection functions. In this context, those providers may process certain technical connection data in accordance with their own obligations, terms and privacy policies.

9. Purposes of processing

Data that is not processed solely in your browser may, depending on the circumstances, be used to:

  • reply to messages and requests sent to AppErgo;
  • receive, analyse and follow up bug reports, suggestions and feedback;
  • operate, maintain, secure and keep the website available;
  • detect, limit or analyse abusive, automated or malicious use;
  • diagnose errors and understand technical operation of the service;
  • improve tools, software, pages and the overall website experience;
  • comply with a legal obligation where applicable.

Depending on the situation and the nature of the processing, data may be processed on the basis of the publisher’s legitimate interests in operating, securing, maintaining and improving the website, replying to requests and preventing abuse; on the need to take steps at a person’s request where relevant; on a legal obligation; or on consent where a particular processing activity legally requires consent.

Simply using a locally processed tool does not mean the content entered is collected by AppErgo: when it remains in the browser, it is not part of server-side processing performed by the website.

11. Recipients and technical providers

Information voluntarily submitted is intended primarily for the AppErgo publisher. Where necessary, it may also be processed by technical providers essential to the service, such as hosting, traffic delivery and protection, network infrastructure or email services.

AppErgo does not sell users’ personal data and does not build visitor databases for sale to advertisers or data brokers.

Some technical providers operate international infrastructure. Depending on the service and technical location of processing, data may transit outside the European Economic Area. The safeguards and mechanisms that apply then depend on the relevant provider and the applicable legal framework.

12. Retention periods

Data is kept only for a period compatible with the purpose for which it is needed, then deleted, anonymised or archived where continued retention remains justified.

  • contact messages may be retained for the time needed to process them and for any necessary follow-up;
  • bug reports may be kept during investigation, correction and follow-up, particularly where they remain useful to prevent the issue from recurring;
  • technical and security logs are retained for a limited period depending on diagnostic and security needs and on technical-provider configurations;
  • data stored in browser local storage remains under the browser’s control and may stay there until deleted, replaced by the tool or cleared by the user.

13. Cookies, audience measurement and advertising

In its current public operation, AppErgo does not integrate an advertising system or a mechanism intended to build behavioural profiles of visitors for targeted advertising. The website mainly uses local browser features for preferences that need to persist.

Strictly technical mechanisms may nevertheless be used by hosting, network or security infrastructure where required for operation or protection of the service. If AppErgo later adds audience measurement or tracking that requires specific information or prior consent, this policy and, where necessary, the website interface will have to be updated accordingly.

14. Your rights

Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or another applicable rule grants you these rights, you may request access to your personal data, correction or deletion, restriction of certain processing, object to processing under the conditions provided by law, or request portability where that right applies.

You may exercise your rights by writing to [email protected]. Reasonable identity verification may be required where necessary to avoid disclosing or changing another person’s data. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL or, where applicable, the competent supervisory authority in your country.

15. Security

AppErgo applies reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to limit unauthorised access, alteration, loss or misuse of data processed through the website. Reducing collection and using local processing in the tools are part of this approach.

No connected system can guarantee absolute security. Users should also take appropriate precautions for their own device, browser, files and communications.

16. Policy updates and contact

This policy may be updated to reflect changes to AppErgo, its languages, tools, technical infrastructure, services that may be added or the applicable regulatory framework. The version published on the website at the time of consultation is the version in force.
