Atbash
Encode or decode text with the reversed alphabet.
Paste a message to apply the Atbash code: each letter is replaced by its opposite in the alphabet, A becomes Z, B becomes Y, and C becomes X. The same transformation works both ways.

Quick explanation
Type or paste source text. The result updates automatically. You can replace accents before transformation, force uppercase output, copy the result, or download it as a TXT file.

Need a shift-based code?
Use the Caesar cipher to test an alphabetic substitution with a numeric key.
Additional information
How does Atbash work?
Atbash is a very simple substitution cipher: the alphabet is read backwards. The first letter becomes the last, the second becomes the second-to-last, and so on.
Reversed alphabet
A ↔ Z, B ↔ Y, C ↔ X. The same rule is used for encoding and decoding.
Accents
The accent replacement option turns letters such as é, è, or ê into e before applying the code. This is often more convenient for puzzles using a plain Latin alphabet.
Uppercase
You can preserve the original case or display the whole output in uppercase to get a cleaner result closer to classic encoded messages.
Example
With Atbash, CODE becomes XLWV. Apply Atbash again to XLWV and you get CODE back.
When should you use this tool?
Atbash is useful for understanding the basics of substitution ciphers, creating a quick riddle, or testing a hypothesis on a short message. Since it has no secret key, it should not be used to protect sensitive information.
