Additional information
Create a word search grid
This tool generates a square grid from a list of words. Each word is placed in the grid according to the directions you allow: horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
The longest words are placed first because they are usually the hardest to fit. Duplicates are ignored to keep the list clear.
Grid size
A larger grid accepts more words and reduces placement failures. A smaller grid creates a denser puzzle, but it can be harder to fill.
Directions
You can limit the grid to horizontal words, add vertical words or allow diagonals. Reversed words can also be enabled or disabled.
Solution
The grid can be copied alone for playing, or with its solution for checking placed words. Showing the solution highlights the cells used by the words.
Preparation tips
| Goal | Suggested setting |
|---|---|
| Easy grid | Horizontal and vertical, reversed words disabled. |
| Harder grid | Diagonals and reversed words enabled. |
| Long list | Increase grid size before regenerating. |
| Quick check | Show the solution, then copy the grid or solution as needed. |
Data and privacy
The generation runs directly in your browser. The words you enter are not sent to the server to create the grid.
If some words cannot be placed, try a larger grid, enable more directions or reduce the number of words.
