Frequency and period
Frequency indicates how many cycles occur per second. Period is the duration of one cycle: it is calculated with period = 1 / frequency.
Hz, rpm and bpm
Hertz is the reference unit. Revolutions per minute are useful for motors and rotation, while bpm is mostly used for tempo or heart rate.
What happens at 0 Hz?
At 0 Hz, no cycle is repeating. The period is therefore undefined, even though frequency conversion to another unit can still be displayed.
