Additional information
How to use the frequency generator
Enter the desired frequency in hertz, then set the WAV duration and volume. You can use the − and + buttons or type a value directly.
Playback starts with the Play button. The sound is generated directly in the browser.
Create a WAV file
The download button generates a mono 16-bit WAV file without calling the server. The file is created locally by the browser from the selected frequency, duration, and volume.
The duration is limited to keep the file lightweight. A WAV file is uncompressed: the longer the duration, the larger the file.
Frequency and pure tone
A sound frequency is the number of vibrations per second. It is expressed in hertz. For example, 440 Hz means 440 vibrations per second.
This tool uses a simple sine wave. It produces a pure tone, useful for testing a frequency, checking a pitch, or generating a short audio signal.
Tool limits
The frequency can be set between 20 Hz and 20,000 Hz, which roughly covers the human audible range. Actual perception depends on age, audio equipment, volume, and environment.
The generated WAV file is intentionally simple: mono, sine wave, and limited duration. The goal is to provide a lightweight, fast, and easy-to-use tool.
Frequency generator or tuning fork?
The frequency generator can produce any frequency in the available range. To get an A4 reference tone directly, the online tuning fork is faster.
Data and privacy
Playback and WAV generation are handled directly in the browser. The frequency, duration, volume, and generated file are not sent to the server to use the tool.
