Additional information

How to use the metronome

Set the tempo in BPM, choose the time signature, then start playback. The metronome shows each beat and can produce a sound to help you keep a steady pulse.

You can use the first-beat accent to identify the beginning of each bar more easily, or turn sound off to practise with the visual indication only.

What is an online metronome used for?

A metronome helps you keep a stable tempo during music practice, rehearsal, rhythm exercises, or instrumental work. It helps you play evenly, slow down a difficult passage, or check that a piece stays in time.

This tool can be used for piano, guitar, drums, singing, music theory exercises, rehearsals, and quick practice sessions directly in the browser.

Tempo markings: largo, andante, allegro...

Tempo markings such as largo, andante, allegro, or presto give a general idea of musical speed. They do not always replace a precise BPM value, but they help describe the character of the tempo.

In this tool, the ranges are: largo from 30 to 59 BPM, larghetto from 60 to 65 BPM, adagio from 66 to 75 BPM, andante from 76 to 107 BPM, moderato from 108 to 119 BPM, allegro from 120 to 167 BPM, presto from 168 to 199 BPM, and prestissimo from 200 to 240 BPM.

Simple or advanced metronome?

The simple metronome is designed to start a steady pulse quickly. To practise with a count-in, rhythms, progressive tempo, or separate sounds, use the advanced metronome instead.

Data and privacy

The metronome runs directly in the browser. Tempo, sound, and time signature settings are not sent to the server to use the tool.
