Quick explanation
Create a short sound effect by combining up to four audio tracks. This tool is more advanced than the other audio tools: it lets you adjust waveforms, frequencies, offsets, durations, attacks, releases, and volumes. You can also export the sound effect settings and import them later to continue working on it.

Additional information
Sound effect generator guide
This generator creates short sound effects directly in the browser, then lets you play them, loop them, or download them as WAV files.
It can be used to create a beep, alert, button sound, pickup sound, small impact, menu effect, or sound base to refine later.
Who is it for?
- Indie developers and game prototypes.
- Video creators and short-form content.
- Web interfaces, menus, alerts, and notifications.
- Anyone who wants to create a small sound without audio software.
Good to know
This tool is intentionally more technical than the other AppErgo audio tools. It works like a small multitrack generator: each track creates a partial sound, then active tracks are mixed together.
How it works in 3 steps
Choose a duration
The global duration ranges from 0.1 to 1 seconds. It is the playback length and the exported WAV length.
Adjust the tracks
Enable one to four tracks. Each track has its own waveform, frequencies, offset, duration, attack, release, and volume.
Play or export
You can play the sound effect, enable loop playback while editing, then download the result as a WAV file. You can also export the sound effect settings and import them later to continue working on it.
Track settings
| Start Hz | Frequency at the beginning of the track. A low value sounds deeper, while a high value sounds brighter. |
|---|---|
| End Hz | Frequency at the end of the track. If it differs from Start Hz, the pitch slides progressively. |
| Offset | When the track starts inside the sound effect. A higher offset can create silence at the beginning or build a multi-step effect. |
| Duration | How long the track plays. It can be shorter than the global sound effect duration. |
| Attack | Fade-in time at the beginning of the track. A short attack gives a sharper sound, while a longer one creates a smoother entrance. |
| Release | Progressive end of the sound. A short release stops quickly, while a longer release gives a softer fade-out. |
| Volume | Track level. It helps balance main and secondary sounds before the master volume is applied. |
Waveform types
Sine
Pure and smooth sound. Useful for simple beeps, clean signals, and subtle tones.
Triangle
Slightly more marked than sine, but still fairly soft. Good for light retro sounds.
Square
Harder and more electronic. Useful for alerts, retro games, and sharp signals.
Sawtooth
Richer and more aggressive. Useful for synthetic or rougher effects.
Noise
Random signal. Useful for impacts, breaths, glitches, transitions, and sound textures.
Saving a sound effect
The Export button downloads a small AppErgo settings file. This file does not contain the sound itself: it contains the global duration, master volume, track states, waveforms, frequencies, offsets, durations, attacks, releases, and volumes.
The Import button reloads this file later. It is useful for continuing a sound effect, keeping several variants, or sharing a base of settings without immediately exporting a WAV file.
The WAV download gives you the final sound. The settings export is more like saving the sound effect project.
Mini FAQ
Why use several tracks?
One track is enough for a simple beep. Several tracks let you add a click, rise, drop, texture, or small resonance.
What does the Random button do?
It automatically generates a combination of tracks. The settings remain editable afterwards. Each track also has its own random button to vary only part of the sound effect.
Why leave silence at the beginning or end?
Silence can help align a sound in a video, prepare a loop, delay an effect, or keep a precise file duration.
Is the playhead perfectly synchronized with the sound?
The playhead is indicative. Its precision depends on the browser, JavaScript, the audio API, device load, and changes made during playback. The generated sound and exported WAV file remain the main reference.
Is this a full audio editor?
No. The goal is to quickly create short sound effects. For precise editing, advanced mixing, or complex effects, dedicated audio software is still better suited.
Data and privacy
The sound effect is generated directly in the browser. The selected settings are not sent to the server to use the tool.
Start from an automatically generated sound effect
The sound effect editor can also be used to refine a sound created with the automatic sound effect generator. That tool creates several sound effects in one batch, then lets you open an interesting result directly in the editor.
This workflow saves time: generate a batch, listen to the results, then refine only the sounds worth keeping. The editor keeps the tracks, waveforms, frequencies, offsets, durations, attacks, releases, and volumes.
The automatic generator is useful for exploring ideas quickly, while this editor is made to adjust, balance, and finalize one precise sound effect.
