Additional information

What is the puzzle text cleaner for?

In a puzzle, the same message may include accents, spaces, punctuation, or line breaks that get in the way of some decoding methods. This cleaner does not solve the message: it prepares a more regular version that is easier to send to tools such as A1Z26, Caesar, Vigenère, Morse, or the code detector.

Case and accents

Classic ciphers often use the A-Z alphabet. Uppercase plus accent removal turns letters such as é, è, or ê into E.

Kept characters

Raw text keeps everything. Letters + digits mainly removes punctuation. Letters only prepares a compact alphabetic string for substitutions, acrostics, frequencies, or shifts.

Spaces and groups

Removing spaces helps test continuous codes. Grouping by 2, 3, 4, or 5 characters then makes the result easier to read, like in some coded messages.

Try next

After cleaning, analyze letters with Letter frequency, detect a format with the Code detector, test several transformations with the Multi-tool decoder, or convert letters and numbers with A1Z26.
