Calculate months between two dates
This tool measures the gap between two dates in months. The main result shows full months and remaining days, which is often easier to read than a simple total number of days.
The calculation updates automatically whenever a date changes. There is no calculate button to press.
How to read the result
The main result can be shown as something like “2 months and 12 days”. The details also display the exact total in days and an approximate decimal month value.
Full months are calculated using the real calendar. This means that month lengths are respected: February, March and July are not treated as identical months.
Full months and decimal months
The full months and remaining days result is the most faithful to the calendar. It takes into account the start date, the end date and the real length of the months crossed.
The decimal month value is an approximation based on the average length of a month. It is useful as a rough estimate, but it should not replace the main result.
Reversed dates
If the end date is earlier than the start date, the tool still shows the absolute gap between the two dates, but it clearly indicates that the dates are reversed.
This makes it easy to spot an input mistake without blocking the calculation.
