Additional information
A practical countdown for common durations
This countdown timer is designed for situations where you want to clearly see the time remaining before a short or medium deadline. It can be used for a break, focus session, cooking time, meeting, workout, study period or any task with a limited duration.
The 3 min, 5 min, 10 min and 60 min presets let you start quickly without adjusting every field. Custom mode remains available when you want to choose the exact duration in hours, minutes and seconds.
The 5 minute preset is selected by default so the tool is immediately usable when the page opens.
Progress, pause and custom duration
The duration can be adjusted before starting with the plus and minus buttons or by typing values directly. As soon as you manually change the duration, custom mode is selected automatically.
While the countdown is running, the settings are locked to prevent accidental changes. The main button then lets you pause, resume or stop depending on the current state.
The progress line shows the elapsed percentage and the time already spent. This makes it easy to understand where you are without making the interface heavier than necessary.
Visual alert and optional sound
When the countdown reaches zero, the timer block changes appearance. In steady mode, the alert remains stable. In blinking mode, the colors alternate slowly to draw attention while keeping the display readable.
Sound can be enabled or disabled before starting. When enabled, beeps accompany the trigger for a limited time, then stop automatically. The visual alert continues until you click the stop button.
On mobile and tablet, the tool automatically brings the countdown block back into view when the alert triggers, making the alert easier to notice.
Good to know before using it
The countdown runs inside the page opened by your browser. If the tab is closed, refreshed or suspended by the device, the countdown may be interrupted.
For an alert at a specific clock time, use the visual alarm instead. To measure time without a fixed endpoint, the stopwatch is more appropriate. To add or convert durations, AppErgo’s time calculation tools are better suited.
