Quick explanation

Enter the total duration to divide, then choose the number of parts. The tool calculates the duration per part, displays the result in HH:MM:SS format and shows the remainder when the division is not perfectly even.

Additional information

Split a duration into equal parts

The duration divider helps you share a total amount of time across several portions. It is useful for splitting speaking time, dividing a work session, organizing rotations, balancing exercises or distributing available time between people or steps.

Enter the total duration in hours, minutes and seconds, then choose the number of parts. The result updates automatically to show the duration of each part.

Understanding the result

When the duration divides evenly, each part has exactly the same length. For example, 30 minutes divided into 3 parts gives 10 minutes per part.

When the division does not fall exactly on a whole second, the tool shows a readable distribution with a remainder. This helps identify which parts should receive one extra second to keep the split as balanced as possible.

Practical examples

Use this tool to share meeting time between speakers, split a workout session, divide an activity into steps or calculate how much time is available per person.

It can also help prepare a playlist, workshop, presentation, study session or schedule where each block should last roughly the same amount of time.

Difference with other duration tools

The duration divider starts from a total duration and splits it into parts. To add several different durations, use the duration adder. To convert one duration into several formats, use the duration converter.

If you want to repeat the same duration several times to get a total, the duration multiplier is a better fit.
