Additional information
Why place text in a grid?
A printed grid helps prepare a coded message, a treasure-hunt sheet or a reading test. Characters are centered in square cells so diagonals, columns, spirals and overlays stay clean.
Automatic mode
Auto mode computes possible formats from the processed text length. If the text exceeds 676 characters, no 26×26 format can contain everything.
Custom mode
Custom mode lets you choose columns and rows. The tool immediately warns you if the selected grid is too small.
Square cells
Cells stay square in the preview and on paper. This is useful for overlays, rotations and coordinate-based reading.
Placement modes
| Mode | Principle | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Rows | The text fills the grid row by row. | Classic reading, easy to explain. |
| Columns | The text runs down column by column. | Useful for preparing a transposition. |
| Snake | One row goes one way, the next goes back. | Good for hiding a message without changing letters. |
| Spiral | The text turns from the selected corner. | Suitable for visual puzzles and path-based grids. |
