Additional information
How to read a text comparison
This comparator helps you inspect two nearly identical texts or two versions of a coded message. It does not only list common lines: it shows matching and different passages directly inside each text.
Smart mode
Smart mode tries to resynchronize when a character is inserted or removed. It is useful for comparing two sentences, two transcriptions, or two messages that do not have exactly the same length.
Position mode
Position mode compares character against character. It is stricter and very useful for checking two coded strings of the same length, such as letters, digits, or symbols.
Counters
The counters show whether both texts have the same length, number of letters, uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, spaces, or signs. In a puzzle, a mismatch can reveal a typo or an intentional clue.

| Prepare puzzle text before comparing it. | Puzzle text cleaner |
Keep in mind
Yellow marks matching fragments, orange marks different fragments. Options let you ignore case, reduce accented letters to their base letter, or compare spaces more flexibly.
