Does AppErgo display advertising or use tracking services?

AppErgo aims to remain lightweight, simple, and respectful of its visitors. The website does not display intrusive advertising and does not include third-party tracking tools intended to create advertising profiles. Website traffic and operation may be studied using technical server logs, particularly to identify errors, automated bots, and visited pages.

What is AppErgo?

AppErgo is a bilingual website dedicated to free online tools, Windows software and a range of practical or technical articles. It offers more than 200 tools that can be used directly in the browser, with no account and no intrusive advertising. The project is developed progressively, with the aim of providing simple, fast, lightweight and useful tools.

Why are some sections of the site still simple or incomplete?

AppErgo continues to evolve progressively. Some sections, particularly those dedicated to software and projects under development, may still contain limited content or be expanded in future versions.

Will the software offered on AppErgo be free?

The first software published on AppErgo is intended to be offered free of charge. If specific conditions apply to a piece of software, they will be clearly indicated on its page.

What are the articles published on AppErgo for?

The articles present the evolution of AppErgo, explain some technical choices and cover topics related to online tools, codes and cryptography, web development, software and treasure hunts.

How can I follow project updates?

New versions, online tools, articles and major improvements are published on the News page and highlighted on the homepage. RSS feeds are also available, and AppErgo can be followed on X through the @AppErgoHQ account.

Online Tools

6 questions

What are AppErgo online tools?

AppErgo online tools are small utilities that can be used directly in a web browser. They can help you write, calculate, convert, generate, check, organize, or process information without installing software.

Are the online tools free?

Yes. AppErgo online tools are free to use and do not require registration. No subscription or payment is needed.

Do I need to create an account?

No. The tools are designed to be used immediately, without an account or sign-in. Some preferences, such as favorites, may be stored locally in your browser.

Is my data sent to a server?

All tools process data directly in your browser. This means that the information you enter is not sent to AppErgo.

Do the tools work on computers, tablets, and phones?

Most tools are designed to work in modern browsers on computers, tablets, and phones. However, the layout and some features may vary depending on the device, browser, or available permissions.

Why are some tools still simple or incomplete?

AppErgo is developed progressively. Tools are published once they can already be useful, then improved over time. Their interface, explanations, icons, and certain features may therefore continue to evolve.

Projects & Forge

4 questions

What is the Forge section for?

The Forge section is intended to gather versions that are under development, testing or evaluation. It will make it possible to follow the progress of certain software before their possible publication as a stable version.

Why can the Forge be empty or contain little content?

The Forge is reserved for software and prototypes that are sufficiently advanced to be presented or tested. It may therefore remain empty or contain only a few items when no development version is currently available.

What is the difference between Alpha, Beta, Release Candidate and Stable?

An Alpha version is an early stage of development and may contain major bugs. A Beta version is more advanced, but is still intended for testing. A Release Candidate is an almost finalized version, close to a stable release. A Stable version is the recommended version for normal use.

Can I use a non-stable version (Alpha, Beta, etc.)?

Yes, but non-stable versions are mainly intended for people who want to test software, report issues or discover new features before a stable release. They may contain bugs, limitations or incomplete features.

Windows Apps

6 questions

Can I share AppErgo software?

To share AppErgo software, please provide a link to its official page or to the site’s download page. This helps limit the risks associated with modified, outdated or unverified files, while directing users to the latest available version and the related information.

How can I download the latest version of a software program?

A software page provides access to its available versions and related information. Development versions may also be available from the Forge when they are published.

Why do some files show a SmartScreen warning?

Some AppErgo software may trigger a Microsoft Defender SmartScreen warning, particularly when a file is recent or has not yet been widely downloaded. AppErgo does not currently use a code-signing certificate. This warning does not necessarily mean that the file is unsafe, but users should still make sure it was downloaded from the official website and verify its SHA256 hash when provided.

What is the SHA256 hash shown with files used for?

The SHA256 hash makes it possible to verify the integrity of a downloaded file. By comparing the file hash with the one shown on AppErgo, it is possible to make sure that the file has not been modified or corrupted after publication.

Will AppErgo software be available for several operating systems?

At first, AppErgo software will be developed only for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Later, the technical choices made, especially the use of C++ and suitable libraries, may make it possible to consider porting to other systems such as Linux or macOS. This will however depend on the projects concerned and how they evolve.

Will AppErgo software be open source?

No, the first AppErgo software will not be open source: their source code will not be published. They may be downloaded and used under the conditions indicated on their respective pages.

How can I contact AppErgo?

Can I suggest an idea or improvement?
